Amman, Oct.

29 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II has warned yesterday that Israelis, Palestinians, the Middle East region as a whole and the world will pay a high price for failure of the political process.

In a taped message to the First National J-Street Conference Gala Dinner in Washington DC, the King pointed out that the price of failure will be too high for all and for America's national interest.

He said the Arab states want to move forward, noting that the Arab Peace Initiative offered a path to a new future, in which Arabs and Israelis can live in peace.

The initiative, the King said, seeks a peace that can last, through a comprehensive settlement that meets the Palestinians' right to freedom and statehood and guarantees Israel's security and acceptance in the region.

He added that the initiative is not just about the two-state solution but a regional peace, about Israel having normal ties with all Arab and Muslim states, fifty-seven states that still do not recognize it.

His Majesty said the opportunity is available to move forward, and that the vast majority of Israelis and Palestinians support a two-state solution and a negotiated settlement.

The king added that the international community is in accord and that the framework is in place.

What we need, His Majesty said, is to engage in serious negotiations that can get us to the end game.

"But for that to happen, we need a strong us role to put action behind words, to insist that obligations be fulfilled and to keep the focus on results.

" His majesty valued U.

S president barrack Obama's efforts to bring the parties together and expressed his full support to the president.

King Abdullah said the task ahead is enormous and requires that we all work together; to encourage the parties to do what is right for their people, and to make the difficult decisions for peace.

The Arab world, he added, recognizes the United States' commitment to Israel's security.

But the king stressed that security is best served, not by armed force, occupation, barriers, the building of settlements, and unilateral actions in Jerusalem, but by a final settlement, that lets Israel join its regional neighborhood, accepted and accepting, in lasting peace.
