King holds talks with French president in Paris....1st and final add

The French president said he discussed with His Majesty the King efforts to fight terrorism and extremism and hailed Jordan as a pillar of stability in the Middle East. He indicated that the Kingdom is a key member in the global anti-Daesh coalition and said his country's support to Jordan is unwavering.

He referred to burdens held by Jordan as a result of hosting a massive number of Syrian refugees on its territory and said Paris's support in this regard will continue. Additionally, Macron said his country was committed to maintaining the status quo in Jerusalem, adding that he and King Abdullah II saw eye-to-eye on the need to work for a credible political prospect to re-launch the peace process. The talks touched on the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly peacemaking efforts and the Syrian crisis. In this context, both leaders stressed the need to support efforts aimed at achieving peace between the Palestinians and Israelis based on the two-state solution and reaching comprehensive political solutions to regional crises.
