Theophilus III rejects Israeli court's ruling on Jaffa Gate property case -- 1st add

Theophilus III said this biased decision does not only affect the Patriarchate, but also affect the heart of the "Christian Quarter" of the Old City.

"It also comes in fragile conditions and in a very sensitive time and will certainly have more negative impacts on the Christian presence in the Holy Land, which could lead to serious escalation and tension in our society, something we all strive to contain," he added.

He said justice in this case would not only benefit the Christian community but also all citizens of the Holy Land, so that all, who reside in Jerusalem and the holy lands, will live in freedom and peace.

Over the past weeks, the Patriarch indicated, the holy city has been subject to "waves of turbulent confrontations, developments and political agendas", and most recently has been ruling in Jaffa Gate case, which exceeded all reasonable limits of justice.
