Planning minister takes part in World Government Summit in Dubai
 
Amman, Feb.13 (Petra) -- Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, took part in the World Government Summit in Dubai, as a keynote speaker in a number of sessions to present Jordan's development experience and road map to achieve sustainable development goals.

Fakhoury also chaired the World Council for the Eighth Goal of Sustainable Development 2030, on economic growth and decent work, which was launched in Dubai last Saturday on the sidelines of the World Government Summit.

The Summit, which was held under the patronage of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, saw the participation of more than 4000 people from 140 countries, and 130 speakers worldwide in 120 key, interactive and dialogue sessions.

The World Council, headed by minister Fakhoury, includes a number of experts from governments, international and financial organizations, the private sector, academics and specialists. The Council will work for two years to develop best practices for the implementation of Goal 8 at all national and international levels.

Fakhoury said the 8th Goal of Sustainable Development 2030 focuses on achieving comprehensive and sustainable growth and quality of employment in line with international labor standards and ensuring the rights of workers.

On the sidelines of the summit, the minister looked at Abu Dhabi's experience in the field of commercial licenses and facilities available to traders and its experience in the field of electronic transformation, using e-connectivity between business centers and improving the business environment.

The planning minister met with a number of economic and banking officials and they discussed cooperation and funding projects in Jordan.
