Drug smuggling, infiltration attempts foiled
Amman, June 13 (Petra)--The northern and eastern military zones thwarted infiltration and drug smuggling attempts late Tuesday, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army source.

The source said that the eastern military zone, in coordination the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) and the Military Security Department foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of drugs late Tuesday after detecting a number of people who tried to cross from Syrian into the Kingdom.

After searching the area, 7 bags containing 5000 Tramdol pills, 1,131,000 Cptagon pills, 329 palm-sized sheets of hashish, and a Belgian 9mm pistol were found and transferred to the competent authorities.

The source added that a person was also detected while trying to cross from Syria into Jordan on Tuesday. After the rule of engagement were applied, the infiltrator was arrested and referred to concerned authorities.
