New York, Sept. 18 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Monday, held a meeting with President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, during which they discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Jordan and Austria, as well as a number of Middle East issues.

King Abdullah said Jordan was keen to promote and expand bilateral economic relations, as the Kingdom enjoys a safe and attractive investment environment, and constitutes an important gateway to regional and global markets, through its trade partnerships with many countries.

The meeting tackled efforts to reach political solutions to regional issues and crises. It dealt also with regional and international efforts in the war on terrorism within a holistic strategy.

His Majesty warned of "Islamophobia" and marginalizing Muslim communities in the West, in order not to be used by extremists as a means to feed their terrorist agenda.

Jordan's role in hosting Syrian refugees, its efforts to provide them with humanitarian and relief services, the crisis's impact on the Kingdom, and the importance of the international community's support in this regard were also reviewed.
