Public works minister discusses cooperation with his Korean counterpart

Amman, July 5 (Petra)--Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Kasabi concluded a two-day visit to South Korea during which he held talks with a number of Korean ministers and officials.

The minister, who headed a delegation that included Chief Commissioner of the Development & Free Zones Commission (DFZC) Amer Majali , Dr. Awni Al-Rshoud, Acting CEO of Jordan Investment Board, had several meetings with South Korean public and private sectors’ representatives and discussed ways and means to increase cooperation between two friendly countries.

Kasabi met, along with Jordan's Ambassador to South Korea Omar Al-Nahar, his Korean counterpart Kwon Do-youp, Minister of Land Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM), and other MLTM senior officials.

In their meeting the two sides discussed closer cooperation and ways to benefit from the Korean experience and expertise in the construction field and building smart cities and green buildings.

The visit comes as a follow up to His Majesty King Abdullah’s latest visit to Seoul in March 2012.

The minister and the Jordanian delegation attended the Korea-Jordan Construction Business Meeting and MOU signing in Seoul on Tuesday.

Addressing the Forum that was jointly prepared by International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) and the Jordanian Embassy in Seoul and hosted by ICAK, Kasabi said that he is confident the MOU signed between ICAK and the Jordanian Constructions Contractors Association (JCCA) will boost cooperation and offer a momentum for the construction companies of the two countries to approach jointly the construction markets in Jordan and MENA region.

On their part, (DFZC) commissioner Amer Majali and Acting CEO of Jordan Investment Board, Awni Al-Rshoud gave an overview of investment opportunities in Jordan.

The MoU was signed by Ahmad abu Zaid, who represented JCCA and Shin Soong-chull, Vice chairman of International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK).

Jordan's Embassy in Seoul also hosted a special forum on investment in Jordan where DFZC commissioner Amer Majali and Acting CEO Awni Al-Rshoud gave a detailed presentation on the Development Free Zone Corporation and investment opportunities in the Kingdom to Korean CEOs and private sectors representatives who are interested in doing business in Jordan.
