FM, foreign ambassadors tour Zaatari refugee camp

Mafraq, Aug. 6 (Petra)--Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said that Jordan will continue, under directives of His Majesty the King Abdullah II, to provide all forms of support to Syrian refugees despite the burden placed on its infrastructure and the difficult economic conditions facing the Kingdom.

The minister also urged the international community and other concerned bodies to contribute to serving the increasing number of Syrian refugees in Jordan.

Judeh made the remarks as he visited the Zaatari Refugee Camp near Mafraq accompanied by the ambassadors and charge de affaires of the United States, France, Germany, Canada, Norway, Italy, Cyprus, Spain, the European Union and the UN resident representative.

The minister, reiterated Jordan's stance which calls for finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis and putting an end to bloodshed.

He expressed appreciation for all international organizations that are cooperating with the Kingdom to provide aid to the refugees.

The delegation was briefed by Chairman of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization's Board of Trustees His Royal Highness Prince Rashid Bin Al Hassan, on health and educational services offered to Syrian refugees in cooperation with the UNHCR and other UN agencies.

UNHCR Representative Andrew Harper hailed Jordan's efforts to provide aid and support to the Syrian refugees and urged the international community to support the Kingdom to enable it to continue its services to the refugees.

On the sideline of the tour, the JHCO and the UNHCR signed an agreement to support the JHCO in managing the refugee camp.
