FM, Canadian counterpart visit Zaatari camp

Mafraq, Aug. 11 (Petra)--Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and his Canadian counterpart John Baird on Saturday visited the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees in Mafraq, 80 kilometers north east of the capital.
Judeh briefed the Canadian minister on services offered to Syrian refugees, noting that the Kingdom is currently hosting more than 150,000 Syrians despite the strain they place on Jordan's economy.
He said that Jordan, will continue under directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to provide assistance to Syrians who fled to Jordan due to the continuing violence in their country.
The minister voiced Jordan's appreciation of aid and grants offered by Canada to organizations operating in the Zaatari camp.
The Canadian minister expressed his country's readiness to support Jordan's efforts in serving Syrian refugees.
UNHCR representative Andrew Harper reviewed efforts of the UNHCR to serve Syrian refugees at the camp.
