Mafraq, July.14 (Petra)-- HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, founder of the Association Football Development Program (AFDP) Global, on Sunday, celebrated at the Big Sports House Stadium, in the Zaatari refugee camp, about 100 km north of Amman, achievements of children participating in football within the Spanish football league (La Liga).
"We look forward today to see children in the Zaatari camp, as a source of pride for us and for all those who play football that contribute to building confidence in children and overcoming obstacles and building their skills," Prince Ali said.
He added that he will spare no effort to continue helping the children and support football.
La Liga president Javier Tebas said La Liga clubs support the project so that children can paly football, stressing that he will work to follow up all the games of the camp, and thanked Prince Ali for his contribution to the success of the project as well as to the concerned parties in Jordan, which contributed to providing all means to make it a success.
La Liga inaugurated Sunday a soccer-based socio-educational project at Zaatari camp in cooperation with the Association Football Development Program (AFDP) Global, in a bid to improve Syrian refugees' quality of life.
Spanish Ambassador to Jordan Aranzazu Banon Davalos, Jordan and Spain have an excellent relationship, adding that this project aims to instill values in children through football.
Former Spanish footballer, Director of International Institutional Relations and Director of La Liga Ambassadors and Legends Project, Fernando Sanz attended the ceremony.
The project involves more than 700 children from the al-Zaatari camp and provides the opportunity for a number of promising stars to participate in various training programs that have been set up to help launch a competition that will be the focus of this project.
