Transport Minister discusses public bus owners, bus operators' demands, issues


Amman, Oct. 27 (Petra) -- Minister of Transport, Wesam Tahtamouni, met on Sunday with representatives of the Public Bus Owners and Bus Operators Association from all governorates.

The meeting covered the sector's demands and mechanisms to address operators' issues.

The meeting, attended by Transport Ministry Secretary General Fares Abu Dayeh, Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC), Alaa Shbailat and Traffic Department Assistant Director Colonel Mohammad Al-Khanan, Tahtamouni was briefed on demands and proposals submitted by the operators in order to develop the sector and continue to provide optimal transportation services to citizens.

She said that this meeting is an important step to examine issues and demands of operators and address the challenges facing the public transportation sector, with the aim of ensuring the continued provision of the best possible service, taking into account the interests of the operators and the need to achieve a fair income to ensure the provision of distinguished services to citizens.

For his part, Shbailat emphasized that the LTRC prioritizes the needs and interests of operators, emphasizing the necessity of keeping up efforts to remove any barriers the industry faces in order to maintain the growth and continuity of the public transportation sector for the benefit of both operators and citizens.

Shbaylat highlighted some of LTRC's measures it can implement in order to address the challenges facing the sector.

The assistant director of the traffic department emphasized that following the law is crucial to maintaining the safety of both passengers and drivers, emphasizing that tickets are issued to maintain order and safety in the public transportation industry and that following the law benefits everyone.
